Community Building Partnership (CBP) had its start in 2004 as a Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) office that took residency as a component fund of the Stark Community Foundation. As a LISC representative we served an intermediary role, developing and strengthening local community development organizations and their projects.
In 2006, the local LISC office closed, and we officially became Community Building Partnership of Stark County, Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)(3) community development organization. We continued to serve as a local community development intermediary from 2006 to 2010. Projects we were able to promote and support include Weed and Seed, Wilson Point, and the Stark County Land Reutilization Corporation (i.e., county land bank).
In 2010, we moved away from our intermediary role and began to concentrate our efforts on neighborhood revitalization, adopting our mission to promote the revitalization of neighborhoods in Stark County. We accomplish our mission by:
- by leading partnership-based, neighborhood-specific revitalization efforts, and
- developing policies, programs, and tools that promote community reinvestment.
In 2017, we were tapped by the City of Canton to be their neighborhood revitalization partner in implementing the City’s Comprehensive Plan, which was adopted in 2016.

We’re proud to share that Community Building Partnership has earned the 2025 Gold Seal of Transparency from Candid! This recognition demonstrates our ongoing commitment to openness, accountability, and sharing clear, important information with our community and supporters.
